Taskbar Not Visible, ID 318027 and 134237 Do Not Work

S

Sam Fertel

Running WinXP Pro SP2 with Office 2003 SP2 and VS.NET 2003.

The taskbar has disappeared on one user account on the Dell laptop.
The blue line at the top of the taskbar is visible at the bottom of
the desktop. If I move the cursor to there I see the vertical line
with two arrowheads, but I cannot drag the taskbar up. The taskbar is
not locked, autohide is off. If I press the Window key or Ctrl_Esc I
see the start menu at the top of the desktop. The other user account
and the admin account do not have this problem.

Computer has up to date Symantec AV with Spyware and Worm protection
on.

I have read MS Article ID: 318027. Neither of the repair methods will
correct the problem. ID 134237 does not seem to be applicable. I have
seen Kelly's vbs repair script but am hesitant to use it. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,

Kelly's script is safe to use, she would never distribute anything even
remotely malicious. However, I suspect that your problem is rooted in the
monitor controls. You may have the edge of the display set off the bottom of
the screen. I would try adjusting those first.
