Taskbar Icons Missing

For some reason the icons next to the clock are missing. I've gone to
services and turned off plug and play and associated items. I don't use
autologon. I've switched off SSDP Discovery Service and the Universal
Plug and Play Device Host. Done what I could find in google and no
results. I've run avast antivirus, ad-aware, ccleaner, spybot, and
spyblaster. Went to the karesky page and did the online virus scan.
Everything came up clean. Anyone know what to try next?

Enter msconfig in the Start => Run box and look under the Startup tab.

If there are no entries there, try pressing the F8 key at startup until the
boot menu comes up and enable the Last known good configuration option.

If that doesn't work, try restoring a restore point in System Restore
(right-click My Computer => Properties => System Restore) that preadtes the
problem.

You can use the Startup Control Panel from http://www.mln.net/ to add
shortcuts to the HKLM /Run and HKCU /Run startup tabs. Those items appear in
the System Tray (Notification Area).

If that doesn't work, unless someone has a magical solution, you'll have to
reinstall those start-up programs.

They are starting but not showing up on the taskbar. I know it is a
setting somewhere as I can log on with a different user and the icons
are there.
