Taskbar button missing

Hi, I have a problem with my taskbar. The taskbar button
(the ones which shows the applications that are running)
has disappeared. The toolbars on my taskbars are fine and
my entire taskbar is there, but there's no taskbar button
at all! If I remove all the toolbars within my taskbar,
my whole taskbar will disappear off the screen and I
can't get it back out unless I add in a toolbar for my
taskbar.

I'm not sure if it is a Window's problem because when I
log on as another user the taskbar buttons are fine, it's
just that when I logged on as my primary user the taskbar
button disappears.

I've tried using a clean boot to restart the system, it
worked once, but now the problem appeared again and now
even clean booting the system won't work.

do you have an answer for the disappearing minimise buttons? mine have gone too, and I have looked everywhere for an answer... no luck
