I have a word document that I have added a table of contents to. The table of contents displays each heading correctly, but the page numbers are 1 for each heading:

Log# 27 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 36 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 41 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 44 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 45 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 48 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 61 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 73 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 74 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1
Log# 77 BHCP............................................................................................................................ 1

Right click on one of the number and select Update Field. From the context menu you can select to update the table or numbers.

Only the first item is updated. I selected the entire table of contents and did update, but nothing else was updated.

Resolution found: Replace section breaks with manual page breaks, then create table of contents

1. Press CTRL/H.
2. Click in the Find What text box.
3. Click the Special button.
4. Click Section break near the bottom of the list.
5. Click in the Replace With text box.
6. Click Special again, and select Manual Page Break.
7. Click the Replace All button.

Table of contents:
Place cursor where table of contents will be added
References, TAble of contents, select first or second choice
Alt f9 to toggle between toc and actual table of contents
