SYTEM HANGS AND DOESN'T RESTART

I

ImroZ

Hi mates....I was forrced to join this group hoping to find solution
for my problem.

My computer seems to hang aburptly(couldn't find any specific reason)
and the worst part is that I cannot restart it again by pressing the
restart button on my CPU coz the monitor, mouse(USB) and keyboard(PS/2)

behave as if they are turned off. Even if it restarts(3 in 100
chanes)it willl hang again. It hangs just about anywhere...the boot
screen...windows loading screen...welcome screen...and of course when
I'm using itI have to keep the system closed for a few minutes before I

can turn it on again. I checked for overheating probs but it was okay.

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE HELP

Could be the power supply is going bad or it does not put out enough power
to effectively supply all the devices you have. What is it rated at and how
much power is being drawn when everything is being used?

Want to have some fun? Sure it can be your power supply. DO you have a
tester. First off they are cheap, about 10 - 20 $ us, but may not work well
on *some* older dells. That being said, if you checked for overheating
problems, how did you do that, through the BIOS, windows, or is there a
thermometer on your unit. If you want to try to get to the root of the
problem, turn off your pc and unplug it. Yes, unplug it, many /most modern
power supplies keep a small amt of power going to the mobo after the unit is
shut off. Remove all the cards from it and boot with just the drives, and the
video, and memory, and cpu. No Nics, modems, sound, or other cards. If all
this is onboard, then lets swap some memory out. Please be careful and
remember potential difference at this level kills only the component. Still
not going, unplug the other drives, and retry, still not...well, do yo have a
boot disk? If you haven't ever done this you may want to find a friend who
has and invite him or her to dinner.

try this: just when your system tries to resboot press
the F 8 key to see if it will restart normally or do the
last known configuration if those do not work, then if
the computer can load to the desktop then click on start
& then click run & type : /scannow then press enter.
if that doesent work then you may have to do a F 10
for a full system recovery or system restore.

let me know what happens.
