Cannot restart Windows XP Home SP2

Recently, I discover my computer cannnot restart. I can shut down and start
up without any problem. But when I use restart or asked to restart after
Windows Update, it hangs in the middle of the process. I have to turn off the
power and power up again. When the start up screen comes up, I can select
"Start Windows Normally" and it starts up normally. Will appreciate if
someone can help me on this.
