system32 folder opens at boot

I'm using a Dell 8300 computer with Windows XP
Professional. Whenever I turn on or restart my computer,
log on, then a "system32 folder" opens up by itself. Why
does this happen? How can I get it to stop? Thanks Lr.

Lloyd,

You don't need to delete it. This is a known issue for owners of an SB
Audigy 2 sound card. Re-enable the item in MSConfig. Then see
www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 260, Left column for a small
utility that will correct this for you. The problem is caused by a leading
space before the /L:ENG. This cause the problem, the script corrects it.
You can also correct it manually by clicking Start, Run and entering REGEDIT
Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Look in the right pane for the value referencing this command (SB Audigy 2
Startup Menu). Right click the value name and select Modify and remove the
leading space. Again, you have to enable this option in MSConfig, or it
won't be in the above mentioned Registry key.

Thanks Chris L! I found a weird file using the "System
Config Utility", STARTUP Tab. Its called /L:ENG, I
disabled it and my system boots ok now. However, I dont
know how to delete this file from msconfig. Any ideas?

Enable it again, but when you exit do not reboot. Then look for it in
one of the following, depending on how the 'Location' started

If HKLM\ or HKCU\ look with regedit.exe in either
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
respectively and delete from the right pane (and in the first delete the
MSConfig line to stop the reminder coming up when you *do* reboot.)

If in Common Startup, r-click on Start, take 'Open All Users'; if simply
Startup take just Open

Either way in the windows d-click to open Programs, in that Startup, and
in that find and delete the shortcut to it.
