System Tray malfunction

I recently had to reimage my hard drive due to the old one failing
miserably. Most notable issue left from this is my System Tray doesn't
seem to be operating properly. When attempting to customise the
appearance of the icons, all icons appear as Folders and nothing
appears in the system try when programs such as AIM and Virtual CD is
running. I'm assuming it's a registry error of sorts but cannot locate
any information on how to restore / reinstall the system tray. Another
weird thing is the arrow button to show hidding icons doesn't appear as
well, not sure though if they aren't there or just no icons. Any help
would be appreaciated.

Sorry to reply to my own message. Found a tip elsewhere finally.

Step 1. - Open task manager / system processes

Step 2. - End Task - Explorer.exe

Step 3. - File / New Task - Explorer.exe

This seems to have rebuilt the icons on my system tray.
