System Tray icons set to "Always Hide" keep reappearing!

This is driving me nuts. I go to the customize notifications window and set
certain system tray icons to "Always Hide", and yet some of them keep coming
back maybe 70% of the time. For example, ATI Catalyst Control Center. Also,
stuff like Yahoo instant messenger I set to "Always Show" and sometimes it
goes hidden! How can I make these settings stick?

I have been dealing with this problem for months. I have even done a clean
install to make it work right.

In my case I had the same problem with the system
tray and Hiding or etc. At the same time my Quick Launch Tray refused to
accept a new icon or make any changes in the display order of the icons.

Long story short - I use a dandy Tweaker called "Tuneup Utilities". It is
much like
TweakUI but a lot more. The thing it has is a " Reset to Default " button.

That is how I cured these problems. I " Reset to Default " any function
having
anyting remotely connected. Than rebooted and everything worked exactly
as it should.

I than changed the settings back to the way I had them and all is still
working
correctly. I tested this on two seperate data bases with identical results.

I assume that the 'Reset to Default" corrected whatever it was which had gone
wrong in the registry.

I recomend Tuneup but their are dozens of simular programs, many are freeware
and are excellent tools. All these programs do is make changes to the
registry.

Find one which has a lot of configurability and don't forget the "Reset to
Default".

That is reset to DEFAULT not reset to the settings as they were when the
utility was installed.

Of course you know the rules about backups. Please do a full backup and
a seperate registry backup. If the first try fails you can just recover the
registry
and start over again.

Hope this helps.

PS: Please post back the results.
