System Standby Failed

during the duration of going into standby mode an error
message appears on screen replying "The device driver for
the 'communication Port (COM 1)' device is preventing the
machine from entering standby. Please close all
applications and try again. If the problem persists, you
may need to update this driver. Is this a known problem,
and if not where do I obtain a driver to update this port?

What have you connected to COM 1 ?
Maybe a modem or something. Disconnect it and try to go into stand by again.
If it works connect your device again and open device manager and choose
modem and energi functions. Maybe you can change something there.
