system shutdown

D

diverni

This weekend I had a virus that would not even let me open
windows. I had to reinstall the Windows XP home edition
and its drivers. I finally got the system up and
running. Now when I try to go on line (I have a dialup
connection) within a minute or two while on line I get the
following message and then my computer shuts down:

System shutdown
Initiated by NT Authority\System
The system process
c:\windows\LSASS.EXE terminated unexpectedly
Windows will shut down in XX seconds.
Status code 1073741819

I have been all over the Microsoft web looking for how to
correct this. I did have the Sasser virus back last may
and used the microsoft download to get rid of it. By the
way, I do use symantec antivirus before ever going on line
or downloading e-mail. So this has me baffled.

Any suggestions

Hi,

This is the sasser worm, please see:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_125007.htm
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_SASSER.A

To stop the shutdown, click start/run, type "shutdown -a" (without the
quotes) and click ok.

Details on the patch needed to prevent it:
