System runs too fast

Hi

I've searched around and seem to be rather unique in my
problem and it has me stumped so I thought I'd post here
and see if anyone can come up with any ideas.

The Problem:
Sometimes (not always) when the system has initially
booted everything in WindowsXP runs incredibly fast. The
clock, cursor blink speed, video playback, even other
programs like games.. everything. An example of this speed
increase is currently the system has been running for an
hour and the clock is 27 minutes fast.

To fix it all I have to do is reboot. It always works
after 1 or 2 reboots even the clock displays the proper
time again. I know its not virus related. And I just
recently replaced the motherboard (different company,
chipset etc) so thats not it either.

Any thoughts / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
