System Restore

After upgrading my renewal to Norton Antivirus my computer has come to an
almost complete standstill. I tried 5 different system restore points, but
each time at restart the message was "unable to restore". I tried the very
clear fix given by Bert Kinney in bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1html1 but
was still unsuccessful.
Where do I go from here?

I shouldn't speak for Bert, but I believe he would explain to you that
when your restore points are corrupted you have to delete them all and
start again.

One way restore points become corrupted is with malware. (Although it's
certainly not the only way.) If you were using your computer with an
outdated anti-virus program for as little as a few minutes, or even
less, that could be long enough to get infected by malware.

Since no one was buying 'Earl Grey'

I think I prefer "Earl Grey". I'm not sure I know how to delete all previous restore points, but I'll give it a try and post the results. Thanks for your help

To delete all your restore points: Turn System Restore off for all
drives, reboot, then turn SR back on (for your boot drive only - it's
not needed anywhere else). May as well make a manual restore point at
this time.

I like Earl Grey too.
