I am not going to argue this point.. it does it for your benefit.. if you do
not like that fact, and others about Windows, I suggest that you consider an
alternative OS..

As far as I am concerned, it is better to spend time being productive than
it is questioning whether Windows complies with any of a nation's
constitutional amendments..

We do NOT need to be told that Windows is our Nanny.

If it wants to create a Restore Point or download a file -- it should
recommend I do so, politely, give the rationale, and leave the decision up
to me.

I don't allow Bill the Gates unfettered access to my PC. I have
Automatic Update set to "notify when ready for download." But,
Bill's a tenacious guy and he keeps setting this for me.

As to RPs, I'd rather that the system help me by doing a RP when
it isn't busy doing some useful work than get caught by a
failure. If that bothers you, just turn RP off, and do your own
when you have the time and inclination.

Where are these Restore Points stored in Windows?

System Restore holds its restore points in a hidden folder named "System
Volume Information".

The XP OS is not set up to easily keep two weeks of restore points and
delete the older ones. Yes, I know it can be done manually.

Correction: I was wrong about that. Only ALL but the most recent
Restore Point can be deleted.

Reducing the Store size will purge the oldest restore points on a First
In Firsts Out (FIFO) bases and leave as many recent restore points as
the new size allows.
One can't easily just keep "two weeks worth".

Sure it can. Use the "XPSystemRestoreLife.vbs" script to adjust the
amount of days System Restore holds restore points. You will find the
script on the following page.

Thank you kindly!

I read that.

"Messing with these super-hidden files may ruin your entire day".

Garbanza!
