i need to create new system restore points to undo problem.. i was told to
turn system restore on and off.. all this did was remove any prior restore
points for me to go back and restore to an earlier date... is there a way
either internally or via dc to recover systeme restore to an earlier date..
if not???? can i reload my entire xp system with my dell resource cd's????
thanks much

A new restore point cannot possibly fix a pre-existing problem. And once
restore points are gone, they're gone for good.

A System Restore point can take your system back to the date when it was
created. Created a new restore point can *never* do anything to help you
solve an existing problem.

That's correct. That's what it does,

What's "dc"?

to recover systeme
restore to an earlier date..

No, not once you've deleted the restore points. They are gone.

Of course. You can always do that at any time.

You're welcome. Glad to help. The specific instructions differ with each
computer. You need to check Dell's instructions. I can't help you except to
point out, if you don't already know this, that when you do this, you wipe
out everything on your drive. Make sure you have a backup of anything you
can't afford to lose before beginning.

You haven't told us what your problems are, so I can't be sure that all your
problems *are* even software problems.

But reloading WIndows resets everything back to factory condition, so it
will fix any software problems that were created since then.
