I was checking System Restore and found the following:

In the right window:

"FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2010
"9:00:28 pm Printer Driver Officejet J3600 series fax installed"

This message keep repeating about every 5 munutes more or less, for the
whole day and everyday.

Please let me know if you can help me.

information?

basically, the restore
point is supposed to be
located on the right side

however, not sure how to
envision your description
of it popping up every
5 minutes.

are you saying that the
description of the restore
point disappears and
reappears?

All Bear did was to make a disconnected *copy* (cf) of the OP's post from
this group in Usenet to a forum. PA Bear makes UNSOLICITED moves
(redirects) of posts a lot. Because he's a moderator (actually a site
admin) for a forum, he thinks he has the same rights in Usenet; however,
while moving posts around in his forum is within his purview, here in Usenet
that is trollish behavior. As typical of Bear, he either SHOVES someone
else's thread into a different group or forum (before the solution is known
so it is NOT known if that is the appropriate group/forum and the
unsolicited move is based on his personal biases), or he swamps them with a
barrage of questions usually across multiple posts (dragging them by the
nose) without offering any help up front despite that much of what he
requests is not required or reasonable guesses could be inferred to offer
help without having to first wade through Bear's maze of prompts.

Getting help from Bear is like phoning for tech support and getting stuck
having to wade through the voicemail prompts and where you might end up with
your discussion somewhere other than where you selected. Here's a prime
example of Bear shoving someone to somewhere else.

Since a calendar is presented for you to select from which day to select a
restore point, are you saying that there are 288 entries for the same event
listed for each day?

Have you yet tried rebooting into Windows' Safe Mode, logging in, rebooting
into Windows' normal mode, and logging in to check if these restore points
are still getting repeatedly generated?

Have you rebooted into Windows' Safe Mode, logged in, and then monitored if
these restore points still get repeated generated?

If you don't need a restore point (which you probably don't have one that
you want since the old useful ones would've rolled out of the queue by now),
have you tried turning off the System Restore service which flushes all the
restore points and restarting it to see if the repeat events still occur?

When did you install the HP device and/or its accompanying software? Did
that installation finish okay? You sure that you installed the Windows XP
version of its driver or software (and not for some other version of
Windows)? Yet tried unplugging the device to see if the events (restore
points) stop getting generated?

When was the last time you updated your anti-malware and did a full scan of
your host?

Thank you for your information.

First of all, I went to :

Start/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore/Next

and I found to Windows:

The left window is like a calendar with a highlighted date(s).

The right window:

SUNDAY,FEBRUARY 14, 2010

First Line:
7:00:01 AM etc. etc
7:02:15 AM etc. etc
7L04:12 AM etc. etc

and keep repeating while the computer is on, during the whole day and every
day.

No deletions.
The following day is the same thing.

I tried in Safe Mode.
I turned off and on the System Restore.

The "complete clean install" was done with the advise of Dell on February 6,
2010, using the F12 key and deleting the harddrive partion.

On February 7, 2010 I installed the HP Officejet J3680 printer.

The Microsoft Windows Live OneCare was installed on February 7, 2010.

Last night I uninstalled the printer. And I created 4 "Restore Points" .

I am waiting to see if I can get and automatic "System Checkpoint".

Did a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you

What are you smoking? The abbreviation "cf," does not mean "copies

No, all Bear did was cite a reference to OP's nearly identical post in
a forum where he just so happens to have Admin and Moderator
privileges.

From said referenced post, one can click on OP's profile and find OP's
posting history so that one might get some background on OP's earlier
problems which might shed some light on OP's current problem.

I will add that same posting history will show that I and many other
volunteers have spent a considerable amount of time assisting this OP
in the past.

One will also note that OP made no mention of having done a "complete
clean install" in her first post in either thread nor has she yet told
us why a "complete clean install" was necessary.

The "complete clean reinstall" was help by the Dell specialist, with CD-ROM
#3 (as I received #1, #2 and #3 from Dell).

I tried in SAFE MODE with the same results, kept repeating.

The printer was installed completely.

Last night I uninstalled the printer.

Then I checked System Restore and the "every so often messages" did not
appear.

Last night I created 4 "System Checkpoints".

Today I do not have any System Checkpoint. (13:10 P.M.)

Restore points are not saved at periodic intervals. SOMETHING has to
initiate the generation of a restore point, like you doing a manual save or
a program doing it.

If the System Restore Service is not running (which would likely mean it was
not configured for Automatic startup) then it can't be doing anything, like
saving restore data points. If you disabled the System Restore option on a
hard drive (they can be configured separately) then no restore data points
get saved for that drive.

Is the "System Restore Service" running (started)?
Is it configured for Automatic startup?

Control Panel -> System applet -> System Restore tab
Is it enabled (monitoring) on whatever drives you want it enabled?

Restore points require disk space. How much is free for the OS partition's
drive? You can't create files if there is no room for them.

I am getting :

Probably means you left Automatic Updates configured for automatic download
and install of updates whenever Microsoft decides they want to push them
onto your host. Is a variable state determined by someone else how you want
your host managed (i.e., managed by someone else)? Configure Automatic
Updates to only *notify* you of updates and then decide if and when to
install which ones (select a custom update rather than their express update
to see just what they want to push onto your host).

I uninstalled/reinstall the printer and the system restore is working fine.
