System Restore problem

When I start System Restore via Start > Accessories > System Tools > System
Restore, I just get a blank white screen with no other buttons other than the
"x" close button. I have tried the following:

1. I have verified that System Restore services are running - Services
under Computer Management shows "Automatic" and "started"

2. I have verified that the Task Scheduler is running - Services under
Computer Management shows "Automatic" and "started"

3. I typed "compmgmt.msc" in the Run option, expanded Services, and
Verified and System Restore Services were set to "Automatic" (duplicate of
above)

4. I typed "cmd" in the Run option, pressed enter, and typed Net Start
received "command completed successfully"

5. When I looked for "sr" or "srservice" under "Source" under "System" in
the Event Viewer under Computer Management option, there were none listed.

Is there anything else I can do?

I forgot to indicate that I tried yet another option:

The help page "System Restore Tool Displays a Blank Calendar in
Windows"outlines five different Registry Keys that must be present. I
checked them all, and they are all in my Registry.

Thanks, David, for introducing me to Kelly's Korner - I will treasure the
site in the future. Unfortunately, the two options there did not help, and
I'll be doing a clean install tomorrow.
