System Restore Points

Microsoft Windows XP Pro (OEM).
I just discovered my computer is not saving SYSTEM
RESTORE POINTS. Does anyone know why this is occurring?

The box in the system restore is unchecked and indicates
it is monitoring all three drives. I have been saving
system restore point at least two times.

Hi Rod,

Have you received any low disk messages?

Stop System Restore from monitoring all but the drive Windows is
installed on.

Check the drive Windows is installed on and is being monitored by SR
for free disk space. Have you received any low disk messages?

Try creating a manual restore point, then try restoring to it as a
test.

Report back if any of these steps failed after checking the
EventViewer for errors.

How do I use the Event Viewer to search for System Restore errors?

Hi Bert,

I have not received any low disk space messages. One disk
C:, the one with Windows XP has 111GB free space, and the
other D: is for programs/storage has 95GB free space.

I'll deselect the D: from monitoring. Then I'll see what
it does and check out the resources you suggested. I'll
get back to you when I solve this boo-boo. Thank you.

Bert,

I actually have three drives on my computer. Physical
hard drive one, C:, the Windows XP drive. Physical hard
drive two, D:, the programs/storage drive. And a logical
drive (I believe that is what they are called), G:. The
G: drive was created by a backup program I have. Also,
the G: (logical drive) is created on the D: drive.

I have gone into system restore and selected so the only
drive that is monitored is C:. That fixed the problem.
So, I went back in and selected C: and D: to be
monitored. That still fixed the problem. So I added the
G: drive and the problem came back. Finally, I have C:
and D: selected to be monitored and everything is working
like it should.

Thank you for helping out with this annoyance. It is nice
to sail into computerland knowing there are lifeguards on
duty.
