System Restore Fails to Create System Checkpoints

Hello:

I've gone through amost all of the steps in Bert Kinney's checklist for
troubleshooting failure of automatic system checkpoint creation.

http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srauto.html

Apparently, my System Restore is functioning well, except for its failure to
create these system checkpoints.

The event viewer showed all system restore operations to have completed
successfully and the system restore service
showed no problems in the event logs.

There have been some Userenv --Profile unloading problems, and a fix was
suggested for this on this newsgroup a few days ago, but I haven't noticed
any corelation between those Userenv Events1517 and system restore
operations.

Both System Restore and the Task Scheduler are running and Startup Type is
automatic. SR is set to
monitor the C Drive. and is set to use ~3,000 Megs.

IIS is not installed .

I'm hoping to avoid doing a reapir/install.

It might be some program running on my PC which isn't allowing enough
idle time
for these points to be created.

I dont know what the main "system restore culprits" are in Windows XP.

I use Zone Alarm Security Suite Version 6.1.737.000 for antivirus and
firewall. The built in windows firewall is disabled.

No viruses or spyware found on scan.

Any suggestions as to why those system restore points arent being created?

Thanks in advance:

Hi Eli,

Does SR create any restore points at all?
The event viewer showed all system restore operations to have

There have been some Userenv --Profile unloading problems, and a fix
was suggested for this on this newsgroup a few days ago, but I

Both System Restore and the Task Scheduler are running and Startup
Type is automatic. SR is set to monitor the C Drive. and is set to
use ~3,000 Megs.

For now, set the storage space to 1000mb's
IIS is not installed .

I'm hoping to avoid doing a reapir/install.

It might be some program running on my PC which isn't allowing enough
idle time for these points to be created.

This is a very good possibility. Close all open applications and open
Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del). Normal "System Idle Process should be mid
to high 90's. You will also want to disable the screen saver and prevent
any power saving from kicking in.

I use the following script to adjust the restore point frequency to 18
hours rather than the default of 24. To test, you could set the
frequency to 1 hour for testing restore point creation.
