System Resources II

H

Haim Guivon

Please, forgive me for re-posting. I didn't get any answer, so I guess this
is not the right forum to publish my question. But, please, maybe somebody
can steer me into the right direction? Here it goes again (if no answer I
promise I won't bother again):
...................................................................................................................
If I leave my machine unattended, while connected to the Web with an ADSL
connection, for a few hours, when I come back to her, I see that the
connection has been closed (I didn't check automatic disconnection as an
option), and, worse, that I cannot execute any program, including
"shutdown.exe", because of the following message:

"Insufficient resources exist to complete the requested service".

In this state, only a hot reboot is possible.

Questions:

1. What is causing this drain of resources?

2. Is there any way of recovering the resources without resorting to a hot
reboot?

3. What may possible cause the connection to the ISP to be closed?

TIA,
haim

Learn to have some patience! You've waited less than 24 hours before
reposting! This is Usenet, not an email reply service. You may have to wait
two or three days before you receive a reply.

As you're asking about system resources, I surmise you're not even running
XP. System resources belong to 9x/ME based systems. There is no such thing
under any NT-based OS.
