System Recovery

Cody

My computer crashed, and I had to do a system recovery,
but when I did so, it said the file <windows root>system32
\nostkrnl.exe. file was missing or corupted, but I did
nothing to delete or corupt it. The system recovery has
stopped, and told me to reinstall the file, but XP came
with my computer. How can I fix this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Nostkrnl.exe is NOT a Windows/system32 file. It could be
related to another installed application. Suggest you do
the following:
First do a complete virus scan of your harddrive, for you
may have a virus. If none, do the following:
Start/Run/type MSCONFIG and click OK. Go to the Startup
tab and uncheck/disable every item except your anti-virus
program, if Norton, it will start with NAV, click Apply,
OK and reboot. This will give you a "lean, mean machine".
If this solves the problem, then type the file name in
Search, if it finds it send it to the Recycle Bin.
