System Mechanic

Bonnie

HI,
Is there another tool to use to help keep your computer
cleaned up besides system mechanic?
Have been having a lot of problems with it, and sometimes
you really don't get what you pay for, because I bought
this one and not to impresed with it, doesn't work on
clearing up your personal information like it says it
does, makes Microsoft send error reports everytime I
start it.
Thank you so much for your time

You need to be specific about what it is you wish cleaned up. XP has a disk
cleanup utility but it has its limitations. However, without knowing
precisely what it is you want "cleaned up," it's difficult to make a
recommendation as different products do different things.

Third party add-ons such as that are a waste of time, money,if you purchased it.
XP has its own clean-up utilitys, daily you should:run disk clean-up,in internet options
create a shrtcut to desktop and run,delete cookies,files-all off-line files,run disk
defrag after disk clean-up(at least weekly),go to run type:cmd At the curser type:
CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,then type:EXIT Every few weeks run,type:%temp%
edit,select all,delete all.Run anti-virus weekly,run windows update regulary.There's
not much else.

spybot search & destroy will scan for track usage and
redundant reg entries as well as spyware , trojans etc.

Yes it will but I don't often recommend it because it can be very aggressive
and an unwary user might end up with other issues as a result.
