System explorers

Do not seem to be able to run MS AntiSpyware System
explorers. Read help info, but nothing on how to start.
Checked all menus, buttons and anything that looks like
it might be a link or hotspot relating to System
explorers. Believe I may have spyware on system, browser
possibly hijacked in some way, but MS AntiSpyware scan
turns up negative. Am running Norton Personal Firewall
and SystemWorks (includes AntiVirus), and Spybot - Search
and Destroy. Nothing pertinent in Norton logs.

Hello Rick,

Try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without
the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Try EWIDO. On my system it found many items that MSAS never found. Hope it
works for you.

Hi Engel,

Thanks for the tip. I just got around to trying this,
and the System Explorers are working now. Unfortunately
they didn't turn up anything obviously unusual. Is MS
AntiSpyware Beta 1 developed in VB 6.0 rather than .NET,
or does the fact that I had to register the 6.0 .dll
indicate there may be something wrong with the .NET
environment or settings on my computer?

Microsoft Antispyware beta1 involves a code base developed by a third party,
and is written in VB6, as I understand it, which is rather dimly.

Beta2 will be developed from scratch according to the host of standards we
expect of a Microsoft application. I don't believe it will be done using
VB6.
