System Explorers

D

Dennis G.

I have installed and used MS Antispyware on 8 different
computers. Unfortunately, on one of them the "System
Explorers" feature does not appear. The list of "System
Explorers" does not appear in the left column (which is
blank below the title) and the "System Explorers" are
neither visible nor useable. All computers passed the
Windows validation test. The one with this problem uses
Norton Anti Virus 2004. I have uninstalled MS Antispyware
on the problem computer several times and reinstalled it
after thoroughly cleaning the registry and all program
files but still no "System Explorers". Anyone else have
this problem?

Hi Dennis,

You're not alone on this problem. There are many users
experiencing the same exact problem. I haven't found a
solution to date. There are quite a few other bugs in
this software as well. Good luck in finding a solution
and if you do, please let us know.

I just installed this software for the first time and
cannot get any system explorers to display.

What Windows version? Home or Pro?

You may want to try using MSCONFIG to disable all third-party services and
startup items,
unplug from the Internet (in case you are dependent on a 3rd party
firewall), restart the system, log in as administrator, and test several
things:

1) start, control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware,
change, update.

See if that does the job.

If it does not:
2) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware. Delete all files from the directory in
which it was installed.
reinstall Microsoft Antispyware--re-download if your original install was
not build .509.

Did that do it?

If so, run MSCONFIG again and restart all those services and startup items.
If not, restart that stuff anyway, and let me know the bad news.

This is not for sure but we can suspect that it is so.

MS thinks and Symantec probably/maybe have a hotfix,
but I think this comes to Beta 2.

Ask Symantec.
