System does not recognize disk changes in CD-ROM

Hi, I just built a new PC with all new hardware, and everything is working fine except for the optical drive. Win XP recognizes the first disk I insert in the drive (data or audio), but does not refresh with the volume information when I remove a disk and insert a different one. It's as though XP is caching information from the CD but fails to clear the cache when a new disk is inserted. I've tried two different CD drives (simple CD-ROM's, no RW until I get this sorted out) from different manufacturers, same problem

Albatron KX18D Pro motherboard with nForce 2 400 Ultra chipset and latest nVidia drivers, Windows XP Home Edition fully updated with all critical patches.
