Syntax Error

I am using Access 2002. In a text box I have added:
IIf([Tuition Award Term1]="Academic Year",[Tuition
Amount1], " ") and I receive the message syntax error
(comma) in a query expression.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

you entered the IIf function in the textbox's RecordSource property? did you
preface the IIf function with and = sign?
