Synchronize time in WinXp? What is wrong with the servers?

I've tried 12 different time servers including the time.gov one and
they all time-out about 90% of the time I try to synchronize the time.

Can someone tell me why this happens or what I could do to stop it?
I have to synch my time more often than the default 7 days is why I
need to know. My motherboard is increasing time, sometimes several
minutes per day and this is why I need to synchronize my comp so
fervently

Is there a good list of time servers?

Similar experience here. Also tried using a 3rd party app too
with same results. For now, I'm ass-u-me-ing it's an internet
problem; backbones down, weather, etc.. It started yesterday
here.
