synchronising mobile device with calendar and contacts

I have enjoyed using Vista so far but I cannot believe that I am unable to
synchronise my mobile device running windows software outlook with my new
windows vista calendar and contacts. What a huge disappointment - I agree the
WoW is now - I am amazed by Vista being unable to perform this basic task
which ran fine on my XP using mobile outlook. I am able to install outlook
and sync directly with that - but of course I want to sync everything in
vista and use its features - this is a basic and major oversight - please
sort this out and let me know when I can get a patch to sync with these
programs. This is a task I perform almost daily.

Microsoft has always reserved syncing ability to Outlook.
Why would you expect Vista to be different?
Install Outlook on your Vista PC.

It may all be all well to tell everyone that Microsoft aren't going to make
something work just because at the time being they can charge people to
install a seperate identical program instead, but what they're missing is
that with Vista's oh so wonderfull new fangled special in built sync system
and mail programs, that other programs Including Outlook, (aside from wasting
space & cluttering up computers) Won't Work Properly!

I can only assume this is because they're either conflicting with the vista
programs trying to perform almost identical operations, or the vista
programmers simply didn't bother making things like Outlook and 3rd party
sync programs work properly on Vista on the assumption everyone would use the
Vista versions...
Well we'd be happy to if they worked, but outloook developed faults like not
being able to save passwords and Vista simply refused to know the sync
program I had.

For those interested, or with any Helpfull comments (not like, "why don't
you just go shell out for an unnesecary mail program", but like "Here's what
you do to fix it") my phone is an Orange SPV M1300

Thanks in advance

Outlook 2003 and 2007 both work well on Vista.
I don't understand why you expect Microsoft to include a free
sync program with Vista when it was not included with XP either.

No they don't- Outlook 2003 has problems - PS do you work for microsoft or
are you related to Bill Gates - you don't seem to be able to see any flaws in
their design however gaping. Vista costs a lot of money and microsoft should
be trying to integrate design of their own products for seamless use. They
might as well not have put a calender in Vista at this rate. Outlook does a
lot more than calender functions and most modern users will want to integrate
their mobile device with their computer calender - this seems to me a basic
function of a computer calender in 2007/2008.

I'm not aware of any Vista problems with Outlook 2003. If you know
of some, why not post the link? The following article:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm was written by a very
knowledgeable Outlook expert, who says that Outlook 2003 works
well on Vista.

No, I'm not employed by Microsoft. If you had monitored this newsgroup
over the past 10 months you'd know that I have written quite a few negative
comment about Vista's Windows Mail.

Indeed? I have several dozen computers here in this building running Vista
Business which all have Outlook 2003 installed on them and Outlook seem to
work just fine. What problems are you having?
