Sync 2 calendars w/o Exchange

First I need to know if this is possible - -and then, how to do it.

I have a friend who has a network with his and his wife's computer on the
network - they each use Outlook (they don't have an Exchange server - it's a
small business), and say they have, at one time, had their calendars synced
so that each knew what the other had planned for the day, but it is no
longer synced.

How can I help them get this done?
