Sygate firewall system tray icon

Does anyone here know if it's possible to change the system tray icon
for Sygate Personal Firewall? I installed it for the first time a few
days ago and I find the animated icon is very distracting. I could hide
the icon but I'd like to leave it there for the time being to remind me
I have changed from 4 years of ZoneAlarm to Sygate.

Thanks for any help
Cheers

Disable it... Look around in preferences.

There shouldn't be too much distracting animation in the Sygate icon.

I reckon that the most distracting that icon gets is when there has
been a biggish security breach and the icon turns red and a diamond
sparkles in the middle of it. This is reset back to green/gray once
you have looked at the security log.

Ahh - that is what I am seeing, the red icon. It's been that way since
minutes after I installed it so I assumed that was what the icon was
meant to be. Security log says something about the program World Time I
have installed and syncronizing. Thankyou.

Don't know your "World Time" program but Sygate can be very sensitive
to one application calling another in order to get a connection. It
will report this as a major security transgression.

Personally I found this annoying and if you choose you can switch it
off in Options. Of course, if there is genuine malware at work doing
this then Sygate will not warn you. For myself, this never really
worried me enough to put up with the Sygate warning icon.

Don't forget to go through almost all your Application entries one by
one and disable Sygate's default of permitting server rights.

Thanks for your info. Had no idea Sygate allowed server rights by
default but then I've been out of town a lot lately and haven't really
done my homework.

Do you know of any sites that can tell me exactly what programmes
require server rights to function properly ie. do messenger programmes
require server rights, does an email programme require server rights?
I've yet to learn about this stuff.

Thanks

I'm no expert but the way I hear it just about no conventional
application needs server rights except P2P file sharing programs like
Shareaza and games.

It's slow work removing server rights one by one in Sygate but their
forums say there is no easier way. <http://snipurl.com/hv7w>
