Switching from Mixed mode to Native Mode

G

Guest

We have recently stopped using our NT based servers and
are planning to switch over to native mode. Has anyone
had problems doing this? Is there anything important I
should know before I make this transition?

We are running Norton Anti Virus Corporate Edition 7.5 and
Veritas Backup Exec 9.0.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If all of your clients are W2K and above, you should be ok with clients
except you might have DHCP issues if the NT boxes were providing DHCP. The
clients may still try to obtain an IP from the old servers. This generally
requires:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

....at the client.
Creating new computer acounts might take time depending.
If you're moving into AD, make sure internal domain and public domain do NOT
have the same domain name.
Should be similar to:
internal.domain.com
domain.com
....respectively.

DNS:
Internal DNS server points only to itself, remove "." entry in forward
lookup if present, set all clients to only look at internal DNS.
