Switch screens in gameplay with duel monitors

Hi, i have duel monitors set up on my desktop. When i play my game (Final
Fantasy XI), it would be nice to use my other monitor for game research or
instant messaging. Unfortunatly, i cant move my mouse over to the other
screen because the game is full screen. I have the monitors configured for
an extended desktop format. I dont have any issues using both monitors in
windows. Only in game is when its not doing what i want. I have an Asus
radeon x800 pro (AX800pro). If anyone can help, that would be great. Thanks

That's a problem with some games, when going into fullscreen they lock focus
and the mouse within themselves. The only real way around it would be
running it in a window and just maximizing it to take up the whole monitor -
assuming that's possible with FFXI.

Minimise the game first, usualy Alt + Tab and/or the "Winkey" will
work.

i cant do anything when the game is in full screen. if i alt + tab, the game
will exit with an error saying that full screen was exited.

That's basically the way it is. Sometimes you can Alt-Tab out of or
Alt-Return to minimize the game but often even when it works it causes other
problems when getting back into the game.

The only real way around it is to run the game in a window. Not a very
attractive solution for most games. There is the odd game can be made to
work properly, FS2004 comes to mind. I also believe there's at least one
game that specifically supports Matrox's 3-monitor setup but who knows what
it's like running just dual's on "any" hardware.

I've run dual monitors since 98SE and currently have three pc's running
mult-monitor, two as two separate cards and one using a dual-head card.
Almost every game I've tried (100's) has used only the primary display
except for the very occasional game that starts on the 2nd display (stupid
coding I assume). The fact that there are some that do start on the 2nd
display shows it can be done so I assume game developers just don't bother.
