Sweeping background fill

Hi all - PPT 2002 XP - Windows ME

I have a client who wants to have a small slide show as an anniversary
surprise for his wife.
He is looking for a series of actions to take place over the slides. What I
need is to be able to do a slow sweeping left-to-right background fill which
will be gradient colors or perhaps a texture/picture/idunno.

Can this type of animation be done in PPT 2002? Is there perhaps a tutorial
or reference of some sort for this kind of background
animation/motion/sidewipe/fillup kinda thing?

I'd truly appreciate any information or reference on this if it is possible.

Best regards,
Jan :)

All you have to do is to create a rectangle the size of the slide, right
click on it, select "Format Autoshape", click the "Color" dropdown and
select "Fill Effects". Select the "Texture" TAB and select a texture.
Click "OK" to close out of it. Right-click on the rectangle again and
select "Custom Animation". Click the "Add Effect" dropdown and on the
"Entrance..." select "Crawl In" (you might need to select "More effects" to
see it). Have it set to enter "from right" and set to either animate on a
mouse click (On click) or click the dropdown arrow and select "After
Previous". Try it out!

You can do the same thing with a picture or gradient filled object. The
trick is to either use Custom Animation on an object on the Slide or "Slide
Transition" on the Slide itself.

That's just what I was looking for. I used the rec., set "Entrance"
animation for "Wipe", "From left", at 12 seconds. If they want a pic
instead, I'll probably set the timing a bit slower, maybe 15-16 seconds, so
that it looks like it is slowly unfolding across the Slide. I did try the
"Crawl In" as you suggested, but, it had a pronounced line down the lead in
side that sorta took away from the effect I wanted. The "Wipe" did not have
a line, so it looked as if it was just a gradual fill-in across the Slide.
Looks cool! ;-))

Thank you for your help. I'm still new to PPT '02 XP and haven't had a
chance to use all the goodies yet, so, I really appreciate your suggestions
to head me in the right direction.

Best regards,
Jan :)
