Fill effects - from centre not an option

Using PPT 2002

I know this is perhaps a master layout issue. I have one slide and am
trying to design the background using a fill effect. I want to fill from
centre, but it isn't an option - this is usually what I get when I have a
title master, but I guess I haven't done this for a year and can't seem to
remember how to do this.

Can someone help ... please and thanks.

Hi, Diana,

Not a master layout issue -- just a gradient fill option
that's not available for slide backgrounds.

If you select the From Title option, you'll see that it
looks like the 'from center' options you get with Fill
Effects on shapes. However, the result will be a gradient
that sees the title (wherever the title placeholder is
positioned on the slide) as the center point from which
the gradient eminates.

If you need a gradient background fill that's from the
center of the slide -- I'd suggest creating a rectangle
AutoShape that's the size of your slide, put the gradient
fill on that, and send it to the back of all objects.
Certainly, using the slide's background is a cleaner
solution if the gradient options will do what you need,
but this isn't a bad way to go if that's the formatting
you want.

Hope that helps.
