svhost Error

I work with Windows 2000 professional. When I connect on
Internet (both for e-mail and Web), after few minutes, the
following error appears: "svchost.exe generated errors and
will be closed." After that, the whole PC run bad. I have
already formatted 3 times the Hard Disk, have scanned all
the files with the updated Norton Antivirus (that give "No
errors"), but the problem is not resolved. Can somebody
help me?

Just to add to what Lise says. If you keep formatting and
installing Win 2000 over and over, you are probably getting
infected when you log on the Internet. If it is the Blaster worm,
do a Google on Blaster worm, there are workaround that you
can use to be able to log on long enough to get the patch
that Lise mentions, or you can do this from another PC,
then install the patch then log on. Use Windows Update
frequently and consistantly to get the latest patches before
new worms come out.

Also consider an antivirus, anti-spyware and firewall.
