In my processes list in the task manager i have svchost.exe 6 times. thats
fine, ive checked other computers and that appears to becorrect. however,
noone else has one of these executions that runs constantly at 99, thus using
100% of my cpu and overheating the computer.does anyone know how to fix this?
thanks,
Nick

thanks. i went to the site it advised how to find out what was running under
that process onlywhen 'tasklist' was entered into CMD, it said it was
unrecognisable and so i couldnt locate it. is there any alternative ways of
finding outwhats causing this?

wes,
hi, sorry its taken a while to get back to you, i downloaded tasklist.exe
from the first link you suggested and it all works fine. I then followed the
commands given previously in the link on your first reply and had a look at
the svchost services.
Of the 6 svchosts i have running, 5 of them are running1, maybe 2 services,
which i assume is normal. but one of them, the one i imagine is the one
causing the problem, is running 26! so this is where the problem is, but i
dont know how to fix it as iveno idea which ones should and should not be
there. do you have any suggestions?

thanks, Nick
