Hi everyone,

Have a serious problem.Seem to have got ther above virus
on my pc - it has infected the svchost.exe file ( under
c:/windows/system32/drivers ). My Norton virus has
detected that this file is corrupted but is unable to
repair it.

Should I just delete this file??? I am under the
impression that the svchost file is very important hence
wanted top contact someone first before taking such
drastic action

Appreciate any help or suggestions you can give me

thanks

Hi Lisa,

The default Svchost.exe file for Windows XP lives in C:\Windows\System32.

The one found by Norton is probably part of the virus package and should be
deleted.

<c:\windows\system32\drivers is not a vaild location for this file>

There should also be a good copy of Svchost.exe in the \System32\Dllcache
folder <hidden>.
