svchost appliction error

Jeff

I've recently installed a McAfee firewall and virus guard
and have solved most of the numerous error messages but
the following persist.

After the PC has been on for a short time I get two or
more faults all headed "SVCHOST.exe - APPLICTION ERROR"
with messages as follows :

- the exception Privileged instruction (0xc0000096)
occured in the appliction at location 0x00e6f863
Click OK to teminate the program.

- the inctruction at "0x100086e6" referenced memory
at "0x00000000". The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.

- the instrucion at "0x77d48bcd" referenced memory
at "0xd3c524dd". The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.

There have been others but the above are by far the most
common.

The effect of this is to partially disable the browser.
For example I could acces thes site but but had to reboot
to be able to post this question.

I am using :

IE 6
Windows 2000 pro
Have loads of room on the hard disc and 40M of ram.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Regards.

Jeff
