Suggestion for PPT

I have been melting presentations together and use either Insert or have two
presentations open. I prefer the former to keep things straight and it easier
to grab several slides at once. It would be nice if I could park the Insert
window while editing or changing animation on slides and then click Insert
window when I needed to insert more slides. I am using PPT 2002 and maybe
this feature has already been added. It is a pain to keep opening the source
file, even when it is a favorite becasue it always starts at slide 1.

If there is a way to do this ot another good approach for PPT 2002 I would
appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks

PPT 2007 uses a task pane to insert slides (it's called "reuse slides"
there), and it will stay open as you describe.
