Hi,
Here's an incomplete list of problems that have popped up on my XP the last
week:
1. On bottom left XP Start Menu, list of Programs disappeared. I can see
them all when I changed it to the Classic Start Menu though.
2. Help and Support in Control Panel: No list of topics. Just displays a
column of green arrow icons. Completely unuseable.
3. In Taskbar: Show Desktop icon turned into default unknown application
icon and button doesn't work.
4. Change Remove Programs: No programs listed! (I can see all programs using
Explorer, however.)
5. Several other icons changed into either default icon for unknown
applications/files or disappeared altogether. The latter is the case for
picture files and picture file folders with View - Thumbnail option. If I
change view to Icons, I see e.g. JPEG file icon. I can't preview pictures in
same folder but can open preview viewing programs.
6. Some Windows Media videos don't work. Unknown error msg.
There might be more, but that's what I can think of.
I have Symantec antivirus software and firewall software, and Microsoft
antispyware (Beta 1), all definitions up to date and have run several scans.
I just downloaded Microsoft Defender. Nothing found.
What's wrong?!? Can someone help??? Pretty please...
