It sounds like your are infected with a virus, probably the sasser worm
Go to start run and type shutdown -a then go to:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and scan your machine.
Do you have an antivirus program? Do you keep it updated?
Do you keep your operating system updated at the Windows
update site? Doing so will greatly decrease your chances of getting
infected.
See here for more info on sasser

thanks for your suggesstion, but i'm sure its not the case of virus
infection.. because i've formated the drive and again reinstalled the win-xp
and have tried it several times.. but this problem is still continuing only
when i log on to the internet otherwise its working fine.. moreover theres a
site like--www.wupdate.net , where different patch are available for such
problems relating to various OS problems like that of mine..

You are wrong in assuming it is not a virus....reformatting is meaningless
when you return to the website that is infecting you as soon as you log onto
it.

You need to install a reputable antivirus program and keep it updated. You
need a reputable software firewall ( the windows firewall is not very good).
Finally, you need to stop visiting the site(s) that cause the
shutdown...they are the sites that are infecting your computer.

:
But do you run an updated anti virus? If not you will be infected
within minutes if not seconds of connecting to the Internet.
You need to have the anti virus installed BEFORE you connect to the net.
Reformatting is not the answer. You need anti virus software
and it needs to be updated at least weekly. I have mine check
for updates hourly.

You probably have the Sasser worm because your version of XP has not
been patched to block the offending security hole in IE6. Go to
Microsoft and download patch to plug hole
(WindowsXP-KB835732-x86-ENU.EXE).
Without this patch you will be vulverable to re-infection. Also,
having anti-virus software would not have prevented this attack.

If you can install SP2, the above patch is embedded.

The www.wupdate.net site appears to be part of a scam/ripoff. They
want to charge you $19.95 for their purported security patch.

All Microsoft security patches are available free from Microsoft.

Good luck
