Sudden change in font color

J. Timothy

Whenever I use Windows explorer, my C:\ drive and its contents are all
listed in black, My computer is listed in black, my CD drive is listed in
black. But for some unknown reason, everything listed on the desktop (I have
a couple of miscellaneous folders there) is listed in blue! It's (the
desktop and is contents) listed in blue when I use windows explorer, and
when I open up the individual folders, each of their individual files is in
a blue font. I did not consciously make this change -- does anyone know how
to set it back to its regular display of file names and folders being in
black? I'm using Win XP SP2, on a pentium 4. Thanks in advance.

Tim:

You somehow must have activated compession. I take it that your hard disk is
formatted in NTFS, which is capable of compressing select files or folders
(and their contents).

Select the folder in question and right-click it. Click on Properties and
then click on the Advanced button on the bottom. The "Compress contents to
save disk space" attibute is in all likelihood checked. If you don't want to
use this feature, simply uncheck this box.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards, Phil
