but seems to be stuck in the same position i left it last night. it has 3
green checks next to "copying windows flies", "expanding files", "installing
features". and at the top of the screen it reads, "please stay at your
computer untill all discs have been read.

what do i do?

I'm not sure if at this stage there's a Cancel option anymore, but if so,
try that. If not, try closing the window by clicking on the red-highlighted
X up in the right-hand corner of the window. If you get a warning, confirm
that you want to close anyway. If the computer restarts on its own, ignore
the prompt to "Press any key to boot from the DVD", i.e., don't press any
key, and setup will, *hopefully*, automatically continue in a few seconds
where it left off. If you see a sort of F8 black screen with a lot of
unfamiliar options, or options that seem to say the same thing, don't make
any choice and wait for Setup to continue on its own. . .

If clicking on the X doesn't close the window doesn't work, press on your
computer power button, holding it until it shuts down. Wait a couple
minutes, making sure it's off (no blinking lights). Restart your computer
with the power button. Follow the instructions above for restarting...
