Structural defects on C drive

Jon

I cannot defrag my c drive because of structural defects
that Macafee disk fixer cannot repair in the file
section. Macafee said to CHKDSK C: /f in DOS and I did so
several times, but the structural error still is not
repaired. I have a IBM hard drive that is 2 years old.
Any help on resolving this problem would be greatly
appreciated.

Download & run the diagnostic program that IBM make
available on their web site.

Back it up NOW.

Then get a new one and transfer all
your stuff.

You may be living on borrowed time...

after you get everything off, you can
re-partition and re-format and see if
it's fixed.

2 year old IBM hard drive? Yep its right on schedule to die on you.
(Sorry-- I have had some bad experiences with those things!)

I think IBM got sued (?) and anyway, the Desktar line of hard drives got
dumped to Hitachi.
