Streaming video makes IE hang up

When I try to run a streaming video application in IE it causes it to hang
up. I have installed the latest release of Window Media Player and IE.

When I send the error report I get some guidance that I most likely have a
virus or spy ware. I have followed all of the guidance provided. Ran deep
scans with both anti viruse and adware programs, in normal and safe mode.

Near as I can figure I have something configured incorrectly but I can't
figure out what.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
I am out of ideas.

Thanks

Apparently this problem is happening to many users. There are currently 10
threads on this issue from as early as March of this year. Here is what
happens when I attempt to view streaming video from MSNBC News. A new window
opens, the preceding commercial begins to play, and then the window
completely disappears. When I look in the "Event Viewer" I find the following
error message:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module
ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00011f6c.

This has occurred with no other applications running except those necessary
for the OS. I have followed every recommendation in all of the other threads
about this problem, but nothing works. I am including the following
information in hopes that others might see some similarities in their systems
and post them. Perhaps we can help each other in finding a solution.

I tried the IE 7 Beta 2, but rolled back my system to IE 6 because of
multiple problems that I was having with IE 7. Also, I am using Panda
antivirus software and am running Windows XP Pro SP 2 with the most current
updates.

Best Wishes

Mostly likely explanation will be interference from third-party programs.
Have you disabled all such programs (e.g. using Manage Add-ons)
as a test?

Robert,

Thank you for the reply, but I have already disabled all add-ons and closed
all other programs (including my anti-virus) and still receive the same
error. This is obviously an IE/Windows problem. I have been running this
version of Panda for over a year with no problems until just a few weeks ago
when I tried the IE 7 Beta. I followed all of the instructions for rolling
back to IE 6, but the problem remains. The Event Viewer always shows the
error being caused by ntdll.dll. There is never another program or file
listed.

I'm not clear on the significance of Panda in your report.
Does the symptom change if you disable it?

I followed all of the instructions for rolling back to IE 6,
but the problem remains.

You're still not disclosing your symptoms with IE7
and they may be significant. E.g., was it crashing too?
Most people don't have crashes with IE7.

The Event Viewer always shows the error being caused by ntdll.dll.
There is never another program or file listed.

Where are you looking for that? In the Stack Back Trace
of the crashing task? (after line prefixed by FAULT ->)
