Strange toolbar and status bar corruption

I have a peculiar toolbar/taskbar visual corruption that occurs when
visiting certain sites online. CNN and some commerce sites seem affected. MS
and Symantec sites are not. It's hard to describe so I have a link to a
screenshot here:

http://home.earthlink.net/~claudiald/IEExplorerError.JPG

It occurs when first visiting the site, but after hovering over the various
buttons, etc. (forcing a refresh) the areas revert to normal one at a time.
I did both adware and virus scans, and adware did find a keylogger on my
system somehow. I scan frequently though, so it couldn't have been there
long, and is removed now. Virus scans so far have found nothing. ZoneAlarm
isn't logging any suspicious outbound accesses.

I'm not sure what to make of this. I've tried searching Google, the IE
groups, MS and Symantec sites, but to no avail. it may be partly to not
finding the correct keyword combo to describe the problem, so any info
appreciated.

TIA,

Daryl

Update your video drivers. You can also try reducing hardware acceleration
at control panel, display, settings, advanced, performance.

Hi Sandi,

Thanks for the reply, but I always keep my video drivers up to date
(currently nVidia unified 56.72, dated 4/1/04).

Also, with my GeForce 4 card I think the hardware acceleration is not an
issue. It has not been the past two years since I built this machine.

I should also point out this happened all within the past week or two. No
settings, drivers or otherwise have been altered on my machine since the
beginning of April (when video drivers were updated).

TIA,

Daryl

Drivers corrupt, and what you are seeing *is* a display corruption.
