Strange startup with new Outlook

This morning my Compaq Presario computer running Windows XP came up with a
new Outlook Express and Internet Explorer,
without my email Address book or my Favorites. The Favorites file is still
on the hard disk, but Explorer does not use it. I do not find the email
address book on the disk, but it may have some other file name that I am not
aware of. What error caused this to happen, and how can I correct it to use
my files?
