strange results with text box

Using powerpoint 2007.

When entering text as capital or $ the next character overlays the first.
Seems to happen randomly bulleted list items. Tried 3 different fonts:
calibri, arial, times roman. Any ideas where to look?

You might need to install a local printer driver (even though this sounds
strange). Check this out:
