Stopping Users from Burning to CD

K

Kyle

Hi,

We've received a number of XP machines for deployment in a public
environment. We don't want our users to be able to burn to the CD-Rs that
came with these machines.

Is there a way via Policies to stop this? We don't mind if they come in
with a, say, Kodak CD and want to attach photos to their web-based e-mail,
we just don't want them to be able to write to CD.

Thanks,
Kyle

You can restrict access to the drive itself through a GPO Admin template,
and also hide the drive so they don't see it.

I was going to suggest that Brian..
Here it i
User Configuration, Administrative Templetes, Windows Components, Windows Explorer, Prevent access to drives from My Computer

There is also, Hide these specific drives from My Computer

Check them out.

remember that the drive is only hidden and only few [ms] apps will not show
it. users will still have access to the drive.
