Stopping DHCP Server

G

gurvinder.nijjar

We have 2 dhcp servers, server A and server B. We want to stop the DHCP
service on server A and then remove it, as we only want one dhcp server.
What would happen to the clients who have received the ip addresses from
server A. Will they be ok until their ip address expires. And when it does
expire will it automatically get their ip info from server B, or will it
keep on looking for the dhcp server on server A.

We are running w2k servers, and have PC and NCD clients. PC's run w2k prof
and XP.

Your clients should be fine until they need to renew, then should find the
new server and be all set. You could also do a IPCONFIG /RELEASE followed
by IPCONFIG /RENEW at each workstation to be sure.
